In the early 1920’s, Ephraim Louis Jackson, a London entrepreneur and amateur chemist could see a universal need for indoor sanitation and he invented and patented a unique design of toilet for use indoors with special chemicals to kill diseases and prevent foul odours. His business flourished and in 1924 he decided to found a company to concentrate on marketing these products. Taking his initials E.L and the first three letters of sanitation he called his company ELSAN.

Based In East Sussex all Elsan products are made in the UK and is recongnised still as a market leader supplying airlines, railways and of course campers and caravanners.

Can I use Organic for my flush fluid?

Yes, you can. Elsan Organic can be used both as a flush rinse aid as well as a bottom tank waste fluid. Why carry two bottles of chemicals?

What's The difference between Pink And Blue Chemical?

Pink Chemical is a rinse aid and goes in with the freshwater flush. It helps coat the bowl with a protective film and does not harm the rubber toilet seals. Blue chemical is designed to break down waste in the holding tank and makes it easy to discharge at a suitable disposal point.

How much Chemical do I need?

It does depend on which one you buy. The double concentrate variants are only 30ml per 10L of waste tank capacity - typically about 20L. Standard strength is normally 60ml per 10L, and non-branded chemical is normally 75ml per 10L.

Do I need special Toilet Paper for my chemical toilet?

Although you canuse any toilet paper, toilet paper by Elsan and other special toilet papers break down much quicker in the waste tank ad make emptying the toilet much easier while still being soft and usable like your loo roll at home.
