Dometic's history began in Sweden (1919-20s) with the invention of the compressor-less absorption refrigerator by von Platen and Munters, later acquired by Electrolux, which launched the "Dometic" leisure brand in the late 1960s for mobile living, focusing on RVs, marine, and outdoor tech, eventually becoming an independent company in 2001 and expanding globally through innovation and strategic acquisitions like Kampa which then gave Dometic the range of air awnings that we know today.
