Having read various reviews for this cooler - and the larger ACX40G, I opted for this variant purely because of its size and the requirements for it to fit into our camper van. With Christmas just around the corner (and with thanks to the speedy delivery) this proved an ideal opportunity to test the cooler to see if it could live up to its decent capacity and cooling ability; I was not disappointed. It will comfortably hold at least 5 x 2 litre bottles with space for some smaller ones - ideal for keeping the kids pop cool over the festive period as well as some 500ml tonic water bottles for the adults!! As there are no temperature controls when operating off 230V domestic supply, I was dependant on the ambient temperature to moderate the cooler but suffice to say, the coolers temperature was below that of our fridge which sits comfortably at 4 degrees. The cooler was able to maintain this temperature adequately and - as promised, was completely silent in the process. The ice tray is a nice touch but a little small for what I would imagine would be most peoples requirements. As per all cooling devices, there is an element of heat that is given off (via the absorption process) which shouldn't be an issue in our van and I am yet to function the cooler on the 12V system or hook it up to the vans gas supply (some modifications to carry out on the van once the weather is a little less damp!) but I have no doubt this cooler will suit our needs for many years to come. I would suggest that if you are considering a trip that you turn this on the night before you leave so that it has time to reach temperature - maybe add some freezer blocks to speed the process up a little as it takes some time to reach temperature - especially if you load it with room temperature items. Ultimately, I recommend this cooler because of its size, build quality and capacity. It runs silently and; as far as I am aware so far, chills to at least 20 - 30 degrees below ambient. It is surprisingly lightweight for its dimensions and you will need to be a little cautious when moving this as the handles are not positioned at the centre of gravity; the weight is at the rear of the unit. If you do decide to buy one of these, I don't believe you will be disappointed.
